How Does The Social Norms Affect On Our Daily Lives?

 Since we are kids, our parents and the society in general, teach us the way we should behave in each place and with which persons. We are demanded since we are children to follow certain rules, that the government doesn't force us to do, but the society does. They tell us how to speak, how to act, how we should do each one of the things we are doing. We follow these rules to have a certain acceptance from our society because as humans we are always searching for approval from someone else. 

According to Erikson's Stages of Psychological Development, between the age of 13 and 21, we get into a social crisis of Identity vs role confusion, this is thanks to the social pressure they have and the desire of wanting to belong in a social group. I think this is a huge crisis that happens to almost all teenagers, this makes an impact on the way they behave, how they react in different situations and how will their lives be. I believe that all the pressure the social norms are making them feel is a wrong path the society is taking because they are making obedient people but in a way that will damage them in their daily lives.

Also, the friends a teenager has affects their daily lives and how they act. For example, in a survey made by Survelum Public Data Bank, the students express that they feel social pressure from their friends around 35% and 45% of the time. I think this is a big problem that our world is facing, the pressure we all feel of following the social norms and how we should act around specific people, makes us lose our identity and become another person that we did not wanted to be in the first place.

The social norms are affecting us in mostly all the parts of our life, in our family, in school, in our daily lives. They make us become the person who we are thanks to all the pressure the society put on us. It is each person's decision if they want to follow these norms or go on their own path.
