The Influence of Ethics in Business

Imagen
The most important influence on ethical behavior in the workplace is the entire company culture, which determines whether employees are valued or devalued and whether stakeholders are trusted or doubted. A company that makes policies and decisions based on deep-rooted ethics will create a culture in which employees will naturally adopt ethical behaviors.  The type of integrity that is the root of ethical company culture cannot be forged or taught, but it can be contagious and enlightening. If you act honestly, then moral behavior usually develops naturally. I think this is one of the most important topics when we talk about business because this topic is the one that can gradually impact the way a company works and how would it be in the future. Ethics is everywhere, in business this moral philosophy affects every decision they take and what will be the consequences.  One of the divisions of ethics in business is customer service, an ethical company will train employees to tre...

Should the Death Peanlty Be Allowed?

Imagen
The death penalty is the execution of an offender sentenced to death after conviction by a court of law of a criminal offense. In 1977, one year after the Supreme Court reaffirmed the constitutionality of the death penalty, more than 1,480 people in United States have been executed, mainly through metal injection. Although the death penalty can also be applied because of treason, espionage and other crimes, most death penalty cases involve the execution of the perpetrator. I think that it doesn't matter how severe did a person affect or did something, they are still a human and no one can take their rights no matter what. I also believe that no person can decide to take another one's live, it doesn't matter if he is the most qualified jury, they still don't have the right to end a life. "Capital punishment is a barbaric remnant of uncivilized society. It is immoral in principle, and unfair and discriminatory in practice. It assures the execution of some innocent pe...

How Does The Social Norms Affect On Our Daily Lives?

Imagen
Since we are kids, our parents and the society in general, teach us the way we should behave in each place and with which persons. We are demanded since we are children to follow certain rules, that the government doesn't force us to do, but the society does. They tell us how to speak, how to act, how we should do each one of the things we are doing. We follow these rules to have a certain acceptance from our society because as humans we are always searching for approval from someone else.  According to Erikson's Stages of Psychological Development, between the age of 13 and 21, we get into a social crisis of Identity vs role confusion, this is thanks to the social pressure they have and the desire of wanting to belong in a social group. I think this is a huge crisis that happens to almost all teenagers, this makes an impact on the way they behave, how they react in different situations and how will their lives be. I believe that all the pressure the social norms are making t...

Why Is Respect Important ?

Imagen
Values are those principles, virtues, or qualities that characterize a person, an action, or an object that is typically considered positive or of great importance by a social group. I think that each person has different values and the importance of each value depends on each one's thoughts.  I think the most important value of all time is respect, because without respect neither yourself, a family, even society, can work in an efficient way that helps all the ones in it. At all times respect should be applied, for example, in the riots of Black Lives Matter, people should have respect for what others think at the same time police should have respect for the riots and the people that are trying to fight for their rights.  “Whenever those of us who are concerned about fairness in the criminal justice system attack police officers, you are doing a disservice to the cause,” said Ex-president Obama. Mr. Obama is a great example of a man full of honor and that has respect to...

Values and Anti-Values in Politics

Imagen
Politics and ethical and moral values are concepts so connected with each other that one should never be separated from the other; however, for many years, this is very, very far from being a reality.  Our governors have to be the people´s example of showing the values and morals we should have. But talking about politics today is the same as talking about evil, dishonesty, injustice, irresponsibility, disrespect, betrayal, insecurity, and even hatred.  An example of a bad governor is Donald Trump, he legitimized anti-values such as sexism and xenophobia, during different occasions like riots, discrimination of race at the moment of justice, etc. I think this is a great example of how an inadequate politician can affect the entire country, there are more violations, deportations, gunfires, hate between people. It is something people should start raising their voices about  “When you are a star, they (women) let you do it. You can do whatever you want ” Donald Trump, 2...

Ancient Greek Ethics

Imagen
Philosophical reflection on ethical codes started with the Greek Sophists, they were teachers who traveled around teaching the art of public speaking. Protagoras denied the existence of objective moral truth and defended a version of moral relativism. Plato claimed, “whatever the city establishes as just, is just for that city as long as it judges so.” I think that for people to start saying their own opinions about different topics, especially ethics, was a great action in the world that had bigger consequences after, this was a start of a huge revolution and change of minds around all the world.  Callicles contrasted moral laws as human conventions and laws of nature. He also argued that moral codes were inventions of a weak majority so there were few powerful people. He said that weak men promote equality since it is the best they can reach. I think these ideas are wrong because the moral laws are not about who has more power, they are about equality and how everyone shoul...

GMO

Imagen
GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) is any organism that has the DNA modified by using genetic engineering technology. They change different things such as: improve their growth, their nutritional content, pest resistance, ease of farming, etc. These genetic modifications accelerate the selective breeding to give the organism the trait they desire. I think this is a huge step for humans because they are being able to change humanity, but at the same time it is not a natural thing and we don't know what effects can there be on the future. It is estimated that there is around 80% of foods in the supermarkets that have ingredients that were genetically modified. I think that this is an important aspect that we don't even notice but we should start to, because if they do this without we don't even notice, what more are they doing to our food? There is some concern that the GMO can produce different illnesses and allergies, but according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)...
